Roadnavier® 12.3" Android Infotainment System

Upgrade your Acura RDX with Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, HD Touchscreen, and complete OEM system retention.

One of the most frequent questions we receive from Acura RDX owners considering an infotainment system upgrade is: "Is the installation too complex for a DIY project? What if I buy it and can't figure out how to install it?"

It is completely understandable to feel hesitant before dismantling the factory dashboard of a luxury crossover. Modern automotive electronics involve sensitive CAN-Bus communications, factory amplifier integration, and delicate ribbon cable connectors. However, modern aftermarket engineering has evolved: you do not need to cut a single factory wire, solder pins, or modify original vehicle electronics.

This technical walkthrough covers every tool, trim removal step, harness connection, and audio routing detail required to install our premium 12.3-inch Widescreen Android Multimedia System for Acura RDX safely and confidently.

Required Tools & Supplies

You only need two basic hand tools and standard protective tape to complete this job:

🔧 Plastic Pry Tool (Non-marring)
🔧 Phillips Screwdriver (#2)
🔧 Black Electrical / Cloth Tape

Phase 1: Dashboard Disassembly & Factory Screen Removal

Step 1: Pry Off Side Silver Trim Strips

Insert the plastic pry tool gently into the gap along the left and right silver decorative trim strips running down the center stack. Apply steady leverage to release the retention clips. Set the trim pieces aside safely.

Step 2: Remove Air Conditioning Vents

Work the pry tool along the outer edges of the center AC vents above the climate controls. Pry outward carefully until the vent assembly pops free from the dashboard retainers.

Step 3: Unclip Upper Display Hood / Cover

Insert the pry tool under the top cowl surrounding the OEM small screen. Lift upward to release the retaining clips securing the cover plate.

Step 4: Unscrew and Extract OEM Screen

Use your Phillips head screwdriver to remove the factory retaining screws holding the upper display module in place. Pull the screen assembly forward and disconnect the factory blue connector from the back of the unit.

⚠️ CRITICAL SAFETY WARNING: NEVER PLUG OR UNPLUG RIBBON CABLES WHILE POWERED!

Always turn off the vehicle ignition and ensure all cluster lights are completely off before handling internal display ribbon cables. Connecting or disconnecting FPC/FFC ribbon cables while live power is flowing can short-circuit the display controller IC or backlight circuit.

Phase 2: Harness Routing & Hardware Setup

1. Mounting Base & Screen Ribbon Cable

Mount the 12.3-inch screen bracket securely into the OEM screen slot. Insert the main ribbon cable into its locking connector on the board with the locking lever open, then press the clip down firmly. Wrap black electrical cloth tape over the connector joint to prevent vehicle vibration from loosening the connection over time.
