Which Mercedes NTG Version Do I Have? NTG 4.0 vs 4.5 vs 5.0
If you're buying an Android screen for your Mercedes-Benz, you may be asked to select NTG 4.0, NTG 4.5/4.7 or NTG 5.0/5.1.
In most cases, you can identify it by checking three things: the factory user interface, the radio/CD buttons, and—if necessary—the LVDS connector.
Start with Step 1. If the version is already clear, you don't need to remove anything from the dashboard.
Check the Factory User Interface
Turn on the original Mercedes screen and compare its menu design with the examples below.
Compare the original Mercedes menu design to narrow down your NTG version.
Tip: The vehicle year can help narrow down the possibilities, but don't use the year alone. NTG generations can overlap between models, production dates and markets.
Check the Original Radio / CD Buttons
If the interface alone doesn't give you a clear answer, look at the original Mercedes radio/CD head unit. This is especially useful for distinguishing NTG 4.0 from NTG 4.5/4.7.
Compare the button shape, C / CLR / CLEAR marking and center-control finish.
Check the LVDS Connector If You're Still Unsure
If Steps 1 and 2 still don't confirm the version, check the LVDS connector behind the original display.
NTG 4.0 uses a 10-pin LVDS connection; NTG 4.5/4.7 and NTG 5.0/5.1 use a 4-pin LVDS connection.
Don't remove the original screen just to check the LVDS connector unless necessary. Start with the interface and radio buttons first.
