2020–2021 Infiniti QX80 Dual-Screen Upgrade: Will a 12.3" Android Screen Fit?
If you own a 2020 or 2021 Infiniti QX80 with the factory dual-screen center console and are considering a larger screen upgrade, you probably already know what you want.
Before ordering, the important questions are not about Android apps or screen features. They are about compatibility, factory integration and installation.
Before ordering, confirm three things:
- Will it fit my dashboard?
- Will the factory functions still work?
- How difficult is the installation?
1,Does My 2020–2021 Infiniti QX80 Have the Correct Dashboard?
For the U.S. market, the 2020 and 2021 Infiniti QX80 use the factory INFINITI InTouch dual-screen system, with an upper 8-inch display and lower 7-inch display.
This is the factory dashboard you should have:
If your QX80 has this factory dual-screen center console, it matches the dashboard layout this upgrade is designed for.
Important: If your dashboard looks different from the photo above, do not order based on model year alone. Send us a clear photo of your original center console and we can check compatibility first.
2,How Does the 12.3" Upgrade Fit the QX80?
This is not a universal tablet mounted over the original screens.
The upgrade replaces the factory dual-screen infotainment setup with a vehicle-specific 12.3-inch Android display and matching center-console assembly.
The system is designed around the original QX80 dashboard so the finished installation integrates into the center console rather than looking like an add-on screen.
What Happens to the Original Dual Screens?
The original dual-screen infotainment setup is removed as part of the installation.
The new system uses vehicle-specific wiring and interfaces to integrate the replacement screen with supported factory vehicle functions.
This is a complete center infotainment upgrade, not an additional screen installed on top of the factory dual-screen system.
Will the Factory 360° Camera Still Work?
Yes. On the correctly matched configuration, the factory Around View Monitor / 360° camera can be retained.
If your QX80 already has the original Infiniti 360° camera system, you do not need to replace it with a completely new aftermarket four-camera system simply because you are upgrading the center screen.
Let us know that your vehicle has the factory 360° system when confirming compatibility.
What About the Factory Bose Audio System?
If your QX80 has the factory Bose audio system, tell us before shipment.
The vehicle configuration and wiring should be confirmed before installation so the correct system can be prepared before the dashboard is disassembled.
This is one reason we recommend confirming the original dashboard and factory equipment before ordering rather than relying only on the model year.
Will the Steering-Wheel Controls Still Work?
The system is designed to integrate with supported factory steering-wheel controls through the vehicle-specific interface.
The goal of the upgrade is to replace the infotainment system without unnecessarily sacrificing the factory controls you already use.
What If My QX80 Has Factory Rear Entertainment?
If your QX80 has factory rear entertainment screens, let us know before ordering.
If you want the new Android system to send video to the rear screens, an additional video output interface may be required.
Having factory rear entertainment does not necessarily prevent the front screen upgrade, but the rear-video requirement should be confirmed before shipment.
3.Is the Installation Plug-and-Play?
The system uses vehicle-specific wiring, but this is still a complete center infotainment upgrade rather than a simple five-minute screen replacement.
The factory center console must be disassembled, the original infotainment components removed, and the new display, wiring and interfaces installed.
For the correctly matched dashboard, cutting the dashboard should not normally be required.
Because the QX80 integrates factory audio, cameras and vehicle controls into the center console, installation by an experienced car-audio or automotive-electronics installer is recommended.
