How to Identify Your Range Rover Infotainment System Before Upgrading

If you are upgrading the infotainment system in a 2013–2017 Range Rover Vogue (L405) or Range Rover Sport (L494), please do not order based on the model year alone.

Several different dashboard, shifter and factory infotainment configurations were used during these years. Choosing the wrong version may result in:

Step 1: Is Your Vehicle Range Rover Vogue or Range Rover Sport?

First, identify whether you have a Range Rover Vogue / Range Rover L405 or a Range Rover Sport / L494. Do not rely only on the model year. The easiest way is to look at the gear shifter and center-console trim.

Range Rover Vogue / L405

The Range Rover Vogue typically uses a rotary gear selector. Another important difference is the center-console trim. On the Vogue, the trim around the original screen and the lower center-console/gear-selector area is a split, two-piece design.

Look for: Rotary shifter + split center-console trim = Range Rover Vogue / L405

Range Rover Sport / L494

Depending on the vehicle configuration, the Range Rover Sport may have different shifter styles.

Because some Sport vehicles can also use a rotary shifter, do not identify the vehicle by the shifter alone. Look at the center-console trim as well. On the Range Rover Sport, the screen surround and lower center-console trim form a more integrated, one-piece design.

Look for: Integrated one-piece center-console trim = Range Rover Sport / L494

Important: If your vehicle has a rotary shifter, do not automatically assume it is a Vogue. Check the center-console trim before selecting your version.

Step 2: Identify Your Factory Infotainment System — Bosch or Harman

Once you know whether your vehicle is a Vogue or Sport, the next step is extremely important: Does your vehicle have the Bosch system or the Harman system? The easiest way to identify it is not by removing the dashboard or checking the head unit behind the screen. Simply look at your original factory display.

Bosch System — Small Screen with Buttons on Both Sides

A Bosch-equipped vehicle has a very recognizable original screen:

• Smaller display area
• Physical/touch-control buttons positioned on both sides of the screen (the display does not fill the entire screen surround)

Easy rule: Small factory screen + buttons on the left and right sides = Bosch System

This is usually the fastest way to identify a Bosch vehicle.

Harman System — Full-Screen Display

The Harman system looks noticeably different. Instead of the smaller display with side buttons, the Harman version uses a much more modern full-screen display.

Easy rule: Full-width factory screen without the Bosch-style buttons on both sides = Harman System

This visual check is much more reliable than ordering based only on the year of the vehicle.

Step 3: If You Have Harman, Check Single View vs Dual View

If you identified your vehicle as Bosch, you can move on to selecting the correct Bosch version. If you have Harman, however, there is one more important check. Harman-equipped vehicles can have either Single View or Dual View. These two configurations must not be treated as the same when installing our upgrade.

Harman Single View

If your original Harman system is Single View, it is compatible with our Harman-version upgrade without the Dual View conversion described below.

Harman Dual View

Some Range Rover vehicles were equipped with the factory Dual View function. Dual View allows the driver and front passenger to see different content on the same original display depending on their viewing angle.

Why is this necessary? Our Harman upgrade is designed to work with the Single View configuration. If the original vehicle remains configured as Dual View, the upgraded screen may flicker or display incorrectly after installation.

Therefore: Harman Dual View → Program to Single View → Install the upgrade. Do not skip this step.

30-Second Compatibility Check Before Ordering

Before placing your order, check these three things:

1. Which vehicle do you have?
   • Vogue / L405: Usually rotary shifter + split / two-piece center-console trim
   • Sport / L494: Long or rotary shifter depending on version + integrated / one-piece center-console trim
2. Which original infotainment system do you have?
   • Small screen + buttons on both sides → Bosch
   • Full-screen display → Harman
3. If Harman, which screen type?
   • Single View → Ready for the compatible Harman version
   • Dual View → Must be programmed to Single View before installation

Why We Ask You to Check the Original System

Two Range Rovers can have the same model year and very similar interiors, but still require different hardware or installation configurations. That is why we do not recommend choosing an upgrade based only on “My car is a 2015 Range Rover.” We need to know the actual factory configuration.

Correctly identifying your vehicle before ordering helps prevent wrong-version orders, installation incompatibility, no-audio issues, screen flickering, original-system display problems, unnecessary troubleshooting, and returns/delays. It takes less than a minute to check your dashboard, but it can save hours of troubleshooting later.
