The Porsche Cayenne 958 (2010–2017) uses the PCM3.0 or PCM3.1 infotainment system, which lacks wireless CarPlay, Android Auto, and live navigation. The Roadnavier dual-screen Android 13 unit is a direct-fit replacement for the PCM slot, offering a 12.3-inch IPS main display plus an independent 13.1-inch co-pilot passenger screen. Installation requires no wire cutting and retains steering wheel controls, factory BOSE/Burmester audio via MOST bus, parking sensors, and climate display. Compatible with all Cayenne 958 variants from 2010 to 2017.

Dual Screen Android 13 Upgrade:
What We Learned After the Install
A real-world account of fitting a 12.3-inch Android 13 dual screen into the Cayenne 958 — including the two MOST bus mistakes that cost us two hours, and exactly how to avoid them.
The Porsche Cayenne 958 (2010–2017) accepts a direct-fit Android 13 dual-screen unit in the PCM3/PCM3.1 slot. Installation takes 2–3 hours with basic hand tools. The most critical step: disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait 3 minutes before removing the PCM unit — pulling the MOST connector while powered can trigger fault codes in the PDK module.
The unit retains steering wheel controls, factory BOSE/Burmester audio, parking sensors, and climate display. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto work without any dongle.
Why the PCM3 falls short in 2026
The Porsche Communication Management 3 was genuinely impressive when the 958 launched in 2010. In 2026 it's a different story. No wireless CarPlay. No Android Auto. Maps that haven't been updated in years. A resistive touchscreen that feels physically slow compared to any modern phone display. And if you're on a pre-2016 car — no CarPlay at all.
This isn't a gripe about Porsche engineering. It's just the reality of a 15-year-old infotainment platform trying to keep up with a world that moved on. The good news: the 958 PCM slot dimensions are consistent across the entire production run, which makes it one of the cleanest upgrade platforms available.
Which Cayenne models are compatible
| Model / Year | Factory Unit | Fit |
|---|---|---|
| Cayenne 958 Base / S / GTS / Turbo · 2010–2014 | PCM3.0 | Direct fit |
| Cayenne 958 Facelift · 2015–2017 | PCM3.1 | Direct fit |
| Cayenne E2 / 9Y0 · 2018+ | PCM4 / PCM6 | Not compatible |
| Cayenne 955 / 957 · 2002–2010 | PCM2 / PCCM | Not compatible |
The 958 has squared-off wheel arch extensions and a prominent center-stack PCM screen. The 9Y0 (2018+) has a taller front fascia and a landscape-oriented screen recessed into the dash. If you're unsure — check your VIN or send us a photo of your dashboard via WhatsApp.
What the dual screen actually does
The "dual screen" isn't a marketing label for a split display. It refers to the main 12.3-inch driver display — which replaces the factory PCM unit — plus a completely independent 13.1-inch co-pilot screen for the passenger.
Driver display
The main unit sits flush in the OEM PCM slot. It runs Android 13 on an 8-core processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The Porsche-themed launcher skin gives it a native feel — climate controls, vehicle info, and shortcuts are where you'd expect them.
Passenger co-pilot screen
The secondary screen runs completely independently. While you're on CarPlay navigation, your passenger can watch video, browse the web, or mirror their own phone. Two separate Android instances on the same hardware — they don't share a source.
The co-pilot screen is consistently the feature customers mention first after installation. Long drives with kids or co-pilots become noticeably quieter once the passenger has an independent screen for content.

Step-by-step installation
The following covers a 2013 Cayenne S (PCM3.0). The process is identical for PCM3.1 models. Tools needed: T20 Torx driver, T25 Torx driver, plastic trim pry tools, microfiber cloth.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait 3 minutes before removing the PCM unit. The 958 uses a MOST (Media Oriented Systems Transport) fiber-optic bus. Pulling the PCM connector while powered can trigger fault codes in the PDK, PASM, and audio amplifier. These clear after a drive cycle — but it wastes time and causes unnecessary concern. Battery off first, every time.
Remove the center console surround
The trim panel around the PCM screen is held by plastic clips — no screws. Start at the bottom edge with a trim tool and work upward. The panel releases as one piece. Do not start from the top — the upper clips are stronger and you risk cracking the trim.
Remove the four Torx screws
Two T20 screws at the top, two T25 at the bottom of the PCM bracket. The unit slides forward once the screws are out. Support the weight as you pull — it's heavier than expected at around 1.8kg.
Disconnect the factory connectors — carefully
Three connectors on the back: the MOST fiber optic (small square plug with orange fiber), the main power/signal harness, and the antenna lead. The MOST connector has a sliding lock tab — slide it toward you first before pulling. Never pull the fiber optic cable itself, only the connector body.
Connect the Roadnavier harness adapter
The unit includes a Cayenne-specific harness that plugs directly into the factory connectors. No wire cutting required. Connect the MOST fiber via the included coupler — align the fiber ends carefully and confirm the connector clicks locked before proceeding.
Test before final fit
Do not reinstall the trim yet. Reconnect the battery and power on. Confirm: CarPlay connects wirelessly, audio outputs through factory speakers, steering wheel buttons respond, and backup camera displays correctly. Only once everything checks out, proceed to final installation.
Route the co-pilot screen cable
The passenger display cable runs from the back of the main unit, under the dash, along the A-pillar. Use the existing cable channel behind the A-pillar trim. The display mounts to the upper dash area or A-pillar using the included bracket.
Reinstall trim and final test
Refit the console surround starting from the top clips. Confirm climate controls below the PCM slot still operate normally. Run a complete ignition cycle and test both screens.
3 pitfalls we hit (and how to fix them)
No sound from factory speakers
The 958 routes audio through a factory amplifier via the MOST bus. If you get no sound after install, the fiber optic connector is either not fully seated or the fiber ends are dirty.
Fix: Power down completely. Remove the MOST connector, clean both fiber ends with a dry cotton swab, and reseat firmly until you hear a click. This resolves the issue in the majority of cases.
Steering wheel buttons not responding
This happens when the main harness adapter isn't fully seated. The connector requires firm, even pressure — it won't click in properly at an angle.
Fix: Pull the unit partially out for better access, unplug and re-seat the harness adapter pressing both sides of the connector simultaneously.
CarPlay connects but navigation voice plays through phone speaker
This is an iOS setting, not a unit issue. CarPlay sometimes defaults to routing Siri and navigation audio to the iPhone speaker.
Fix: iPhone → Settings → Maps → Driving & Navigation → Voice Volume → set to "Normal Volume." This redirects navigation audio to the car speakers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this fit my Porsche Cayenne 958 with the Burmester sound system?
Yes. The Roadnavier unit is compatible with both standard BOSE and Burmester audio systems on the 958. Audio is routed through the MOST bus to the factory amplifier, so the Burmester system remains fully operational. You do not lose any audio quality or speaker functionality.
Can I install this myself, or do I need a workshop?
Most owners with basic hand tool experience complete this install in 2–3 hours. The most important step is handling the MOST fiber optic connector correctly — read the instructions twice before touching it. If you've worked on BMWs with iDrive/MOST systems before, this is the same discipline. If this is your first MOST vehicle, take your time at step 3.
What is the MOST bus and why does it matter?
MOST (Media Oriented Systems Transport) is a fiber-optic network used in the 958 to carry audio data between the head unit and the amplifier. Unlike a standard wiring harness, pulling the MOST connector while the car is powered can cause fault codes. Always disconnect the battery first and wait 3 minutes before working with the PCM connectors.
Does the passenger screen work independently from the driver display?
Yes — completely independently. The co-pilot screen runs its own Android instance. While the driver uses CarPlay navigation, the passenger can watch video, browse the web, or use any Android app. The two screens do not share a source or mirror each other unless you configure them to.
Will my Sport Chrono and parking sensors still work after installation?
Yes. The unit connects via the factory CAN bus, preserving all vehicle data integration including Sport Chrono display (where fitted), parking distance control, and all warning indicators. The installation does not modify or interrupt any vehicle control systems.
Does wireless CarPlay work without any extra adapter or dongle?
Correct — wireless CarPlay and Android Auto are built directly into the Roadnavier unit. No dongle, no adapter, no subscription required. Connect your phone via Bluetooth the first time, and it will reconnect automatically on every subsequent startup.
Verdict
The Cayenne 958 is one of the cleanest platforms for this type of upgrade. Consistent PCM slot dimensions across the entire 2010–2017 production run means there are no sub-variant traps — if your 958 has a PCM3 or PCM3.1 unit, this fits without modification.
The dual-screen configuration is the meaningful differentiator. Independent passenger-side media changes the dynamic of long journeys in a way factory infotainment simply cannot match at this price point on a car of this age.
The only honest caveat: MOST bus audio systems require careful fiber optic handling. Read the install notes carefully before touching the fiber connector. Taking 10 extra minutes at step 3 prevents 2 hours of troubleshooting later.
