Required Tools & Materials
Part 1: Dashboard Disassembly & OEM Display Removal
Step 1: Pry Off Center Console & Glovebox Decor Trims
Using a plastic trim pry tool, unclip the decorative trim strips running alongside the gear shifter, as well as the upper glovebox trim panel on the passenger side.
Step 2: Unclip Side Panels & Loosen Console Screws
Detach the driver and passenger side console lower panels, then unscrew the exposed retaining screws holding the central radio stack framework.
Step 3: Pry Off AC Air Outlets & Unplug Harnesses
Gently pry out the central air conditioning vent panel above the factory screen, then disconnect all hazard and sensor plugs behind it.
Step 4: Remove Display Screws & Extract OEM Unit
Unscrew the upper mounting bolts above the screen cavity, pull out the original display module, and carefully remove the factory CD player head unit chassis.
⚠️ CRITICAL SAFETY WARNING: NEVER PLUG FLEX CABLES WITH POWER ON!
Always turn the vehicle ignition OFF and disconnect the battery before handling flexible ribbon cables. Plugging or unplugging the FPC ribbon cable while power is active can short-circuit the display board controller IC.
Part 2: Wiring Harness Connections & Hardware Mounting
Engineering Wiring Schematic & Harness Guide
Follow the pinout passthrough schematics below. If you need to confirm your OEM radio connectors, check our Acura TL Factory Radio Identification Guide.
Step 5: Lock Flex Ribbon Cable & Wrap Protective Tape
With the vehicle powered off, insert the flat white ribbon cable into the board connector and flip down the black locking latch. Stick black cloth tape over the joint for strain relief against driving vibrations.
Step 6: Mount & Screw Display Base Bracket
Secure the 12.3-inch screen mounting base frame into the OEM dashboard screen cavity using the original factory screws.
Step 7: Connect Main Power, CD & Control Button Plugs
Plug the power T-harness adapter into the main vehicle screen plug, attach the CD player head unit passthrough connector, and plug the green control adapter firmly into the center stack board.
Step 8: Connect Armrest AUX & Select OEM AUX Mode
Route the AUX cable into the center armrest storage box and plug it into the 3.5mm/RCA AUX jack. On the center console radio stack, press the physical AUX button so sound routes through your ELS Surround system.
