Introduction
Upgrade your Acura TL’s center console with a sleek Tesla-style Android head unit. This guide covers the complete process for 2004–2006 and 2007–2008 models, including trim removal, wiring, harness differences, rear camera hookup, and CarPlay/Android Auto setup.
Tools & Preparation
- Trim removal tools, Phillips/flat screwdrivers
- Electrical tape / zip ties
- Optional: multimeter for signal verification
Disassemble the Dashboard
- Remove the surrounding trim panels gently with pry tools.
- Unbolt and pull out the factory radio/A/C assembly.
- Disconnect OEM plugs. Label them if needed for reassembly.
Head Unit Ports (Back Panel)
Identify each port on the Android unit before installing:
- USB (4-pin/6-pin), RCA A/V In/Out
- CANBUS connector
- GPS/Wi-Fi/4G antenna ports · SIM slot (bottom)
- Power jack · Radio antenna · Fuse holder
Harness Overview (04–06 & 07–08)
The kit combines both year-ranges into one harness set. Key breakouts include:
- AUX audio out, subwoofer out, external mic
- Video in/out (for rear camera / DVR / 360)
- AC key / CAN lines, Power

Year-Specific Notes: 2004–2006
- Use the 5-pin + 14-pin adapters for the OEM connectors.
- Route GPS and 4G antennas away from metal obstruction when possible.

Year-Specific Notes: 2007–2008
- Confirm CAN and AC key lines are fully seated.
- Double-check microphone and camera RCA orientation.

Rearview Camera Wiring
For aftermarket cameras:
- Connect 12V + and GND to the reverse lamp power.
- Run reverse trigger (e.g., #3) to the head unit reverse input.
- Join the designated A to A signal pair for auto-switching when in reverse.

CarPlay / Android Auto (USB Wired)
- Use the 4-pin USB for wired CarPlay (ensures iPhone is charging); when wired CarPlay is active, the 6-pin USB may be disabled.
- For Android Auto (wired), install Android Auto app if needed, connect via USB, then open Carlink.
- Tip: When using wired CarPlay, disconnect Bluetooth on the phone to avoid conflicts.

Wireless CarPlay (Carlink)
- Pair iPhone with the unit via Bluetooth.
- Open Carlink; it should auto-connect to CarPlay.
- If it fails: reboot the head unit → reconnect Bluetooth → re-open Carlink.
If you hear interference, add a ground loop noise filter on the audio path.

Power Up & Functional Test
- Reconnect the battery and power on the unit.
- Test: touchscreen, audio (AUX/amp), steering wheel controls, A/C display, and reverse camera.
- Enter factory settings with password 3368 if you need to adjust CAN/vehicle options.
Safety Note
If you’re not comfortable with vehicle disassembly or electrical wiring, consult a professional car audio installer.
