Roadnavier® Installation Masterclass
Acura MDX 2008–2013 Android Screen Installation Guide
This guide covers installation of the Roadnavier® 12.3-inch Android screen in verified Acura MDX 2008–2013 configurations. Correct harness selection is required to retain supported factory functions such as ELS audio, steering-wheel controls, climate information and the original control knob.
Confirm the vehicle before installation
Do not install by model year alone. Before ordering or opening the dashboard, send us photos of the factory screen, center control panel and vehicle information. Factory navigation, ELS audio, connector type and backup-camera configuration can affect the supplied harness.
Important: This guide is for Roadnavier-supplied hardware. Wire colors, CANBUS boxes and connector assignments from other sellers may be different.

Required Tools & Materials
Step 1: Workspace Safety & Battery Disconnection
✅ Safety First Checklist:
- Park on a level surface and set the parking brake firmly.
- Disconnect the negative (-) terminal of your battery to prevent CANbus electrical shorts.
- Protect your shift knob with a microfiber towel to avoid dash trim scratches during panel removal.
- If the vehicle uses an anti-theft or radio code, make sure the code is available before disconnecting power.
Step 2: Disassemble Factory Head Unit & Trim Panels
- Use a non-marring plastic trim pry tool to gently detach the center console side trim strips on both driver and passenger sides.
- Remove the 8mm retaining bolts securing the OEM screen and factory radio/CD player assembly.
- Gently pull the factory head unit forward to access the rear wiring harness sockets.
Step 3: Harness Connection & Wiring Guide
Do not reconnect the battery yet. Complete the harness connections with vehicle power disconnected. Never force two connectors together merely because their size appears similar.
For the connector differences between 2008–2009 and 2010–2013 vehicles, review our guide to Check Acura MDX Compatibility. Always identify the connector from the vehicle rather than relying only on the registration year.
🔧 Plug-and-Play Integration
Transfer each unplugged factory connector to its matching socket on the Roadnavier® T-harness. Match connector shape, locking tab and pin count. No factory wire cutting should be required on a correctly verified vehicle.
⚙️ CANbus Decoder Module
Connect and firmly latch the supplied CANBUS decoder. It communicates supported steering-wheel, climate and original-knob signals to the new screen.

| Connection | Purpose | Installation check |
|---|---|---|
| Main T-harness | Power and factory-radio integration | Lock every matching OEM plug fully; do not leave the original radio disconnected unless your supplied diagram specifically says so. |
| CANBUS decoder | Vehicle data and supported controls | Confirm both decoder connectors are fully seated. |
| AUX audio connection | Routes Android audio through the factory system | Select AUX on the factory audio system during testing. |
| Factory camera adapter | Retains the original backup camera where supported | Use the supplied camera adapter; do not apply 12V directly to an OEM camera without confirming its voltage. |
| GPS / 4G / USB | Navigation, mobile data and external devices | Route away from sharp edges, moving parts and HVAC ducts. |
⚠️ Harness Connector Note: On certain trims, Plug #4 on the supplied main harness is used only with a matching factory navigation connector. If the vehicle has no matching socket, leave Plug #4 unused and insulated. Do not force it into another connector.
Step 4: Route the Cables and Position the 12.3" Display
- Route GPS antenna, 4G LTE antenna, USB cables, and main RCA harness cleanly into the dashboard cavity.
- Align the 12.3-inch screen mounting base with original factory dash screw points and tighten securely.
- Position the screen and start the mounting screws by hand. Do not reinstall the side trim panels yet—the full function test must be completed first.
Step 5: Power On and Test Before Reassembly
📷 For complete reverse camera wiring steps and CANBUS trigger setups, read our guide to Retain Factory Backup Camera integration.
Step 6: Final Reassembly
- Turn the vehicle off. Arrange the harness behind the dashboard without pinching cables or placing the CANBUS box against sharp metal edges.
- Tighten the screen and factory-radio mounting bolts evenly. Do not overtighten plastic mounting points.
- Reconnect every removed button, illumination and climate-panel connector.
- Refit the trim panels, then repeat a quick sound, control and reverse-camera test.
If Something Does Not Work
Stop before reinstalling the trim. No sound usually requires checking the AUX source and audio connection; missing controls or climate information requires checking the CANBUS connections and vehicle settings; a black camera image requires checking the camera adapter, video input and camera format.
Take clear photos of all connected plugs and record a short video showing the problem, then consult our guide to Acura MDX troubleshooting or contact Roadnavier support.
