🛠️ Diagnostic Protocols & Technical Fixes

Most post-install glitches are easily solved by verifying harness seating, toggling the OEM radio source, or selecting correct CANbus protocol profiles:

❌ Issue 1: No Audio Output / ELS Amp Silent

Solution: Switch your Acura central CD/Radio unit to AUX Mode. Verify the black CANbus decoder box is securely latched to send the turn-on signal to the OEM ELS Surround Sound amplifier.

❌ Issue 2: Climate Info Not Displaying

Solution: Confirm CANbus sub-harness connection. Open Factory Settings (PIN 3368) → Protocol Settings, and select Simple Soft / Raise → Acura → MDX → 2007–2013, then reboot.

❌ Issue 3: Steering Wheel Buttons Inactive

Solution: Open the SWC / Steering Key Study app on the Android menu to re-bind volume and track buttons, or inspect the 16-pin CANbus harness seating.

❌ Issue 4: Camera Signal Error / Black Screen

Solution: Verify RCA input is in CAM-IN (not AUX-IN). If using the factory rear view camera, read our guide to retain factory backup camera integration for step-down transformer setups.

🔋 Permanent Fix for Acura MDX Battery Drain (OEM HFL Module)

If your MDX experiences overnight battery discharge, the culprit is almost always the failing factory HandsFreeLink (HFL) Bluetooth module located behind the glovebox. Disconnecting the HFL green connector stops the parasitic draw permanently. Your new Roadnavier Android unit provides built-in Bluetooth 5.0 and Wireless CarPlay, making the old module redundant.
