How to Connect the Wiring Harness for a Nissan Teana J31 Android Screen

Installing a Nissan Teana J31 Android screen looks more complicated than it actually is. The system uses a vehicle-specific wiring harness, so most connections are made by matching the supplied connectors to the corresponding factory plugs.

The most important thing is identifying your original factory display before installation. For the J31 Android screen, there are two wiring harness versions: one for vehicles with the factory monochrome display, and another for the other supported factory display configurations.

Once the correct harness has been selected, the basic process is straightforward: remove the original unit, connect the matching plugs, reconnect the required factory modules, test the system, and reinstall the dashboard.

Step 1

Identify Your Factory Display

Before removing or connecting anything, look at the original center display in your vehicle.

Although the J31 platform was produced with several factory display configurations, the Android screen uses only two main wiring harness versions.

Factory Monochrome Display

If your original dashboard has this factory monochrome display, use the dedicated monochrome-display wiring harness.

Other Factory Display Configurations

The other three supported factory display configurations use the second wiring harness version. The dashboard shown above is one example.

You do not need to identify the connectors yourself before ordering.
Send us your vehicle year, model and one clear photo of the original center dashboard. We can confirm which wiring harness version your vehicle needs.
Step 2

Remove the Factory Screen and Center Unit

Remove the necessary dashboard trim and factory display / audio components so you can access the original vehicle connectors.

Keep the factory plugs accessible. The new Android system connects to these original connections through the supplied vehicle-specific harness.

Step 3

Connect the Correct Wiring Harness

This is the part that can look complicated at first. In practice, most of the installation is connecting the supplied vehicle-specific plugs to their corresponding factory connectors.

For the Factory Monochrome Display

If your vehicle has the factory monochrome display shown in Step 1, use the dedicated monochrome-display harness connection below.

For the Other Factory Display Types

The other three supported factory display configurations use the second wiring harness version.

Important: Use the harness that matches your original factory display configuration. Do not select a wiring version only by model year.
Step 4

Reconnect the Factory A/C Module

During installation, reconnect the factory A/C box according to the wiring diagram for your configuration.

This connection is required for proper integration of the original climate-control system with the Android screen.

Step 5

Test Everything Before Reassembly

Before reinstalling the dashboard trim, turn the system on and check the main functions.

  • Android screen powers on correctly
  • Factory climate control operates correctly
  • Audio output works
  • Steering wheel controls respond correctly
  • Reverse camera displays correctly, if equipped
  • Apple CarPlay / Android Auto connects correctly

Once these functions have been checked, complete the dashboard reassembly.

Is the Nissan Teana J31 Android Screen Difficult to Install?

For an experienced car-audio installer, this is a relatively straightforward vehicle-specific installation.

The supplied harness is designed to connect the Android system to the corresponding factory connectors, so normal installation does not require cutting or soldering the original vehicle wiring.

The basic installation process is:
Identify the factory display → remove the factory unit → connect the matching harness → reconnect the factory modules → test the functions → reinstall the dashboard.

If you are comfortable removing dashboard trim and working with automotive connectors, DIY installation may also be possible. Otherwise, a local car-audio installer should be able to complete the installation.

Why Are There Two Wiring Harness Versions?

Nissan Teana J31 and related Samsung SM5 / SM7 vehicles were produced with several factory display and equipment configurations.

For this Android screen, those configurations are simplified into two wiring groups: vehicles with the factory monochrome display, and the other three supported factory display types.

This is why a photo of the original dashboard is more useful than selecting the harness only by model year.

Already Have an Older J31 Android Screen?

Android systems have been available for the Nissan Teana J31 for many years. Older installations may use previous-generation screens, processors and Android hardware.

If your existing Android unit has become slow, outdated or unreliable, the J31 can still be upgraded with newer Android hardware while retaining a vehicle-specific installation solution for the original dashboard.

Not Sure Which Wiring Harness You Need?

You do not need to remove the dashboard or identify every connector before ordering.

Send us your vehicle year, model and one clear photo of the original center dashboard. We can identify the display configuration and confirm the correct wiring harness before shipment.
